"thank you for bringing back the jingle
& my wiggle back into my mingle. love you guys!"
because everything else is just chicken or beef
YES WE ARE A "SHOW"
...and we love the theatrical and visual aspect of the performance, but we also take the music very seriously.
At the end of the night, after the sequins have faded from memory, we know that it's the music and delivery which leave a lasting impression. We would be embarrassed if we didn't knock you out both vocally and instrumentally.
Our egos are too inflated to settle for just being "OK".
We need to know that we delivered our very best...
And we do.
WHAT YOU WILL HEAR
...at your event, are all original (thumpin') dance arrangements and recordings. There are absolutely no karaoke tracks or midi compositions.
We use two 16-track state of the art synths/sequencers
to record all of our material.
From the drum tracks to the horn lines, everything you hear has been meticulously re-created to bring the original renditions to life as best as possible. But that's not all...
We've also added string and horn sections to many songs, giving them a one of a kind orchestral sound. If you've ever wanted to hear a Jackson 5 or Prince tune with a full orchestra...you will.
After all of the tracks are recorded, we then perform the songs live with real time instrumentation.
It's really good.
Why shouldn't I just save money and
hire a dj?
If you think that your guests will be more impressed by the money you spend on the flowers- maybe you should. Here's the thing...
DJ's can play anything. They can also play for 6 hours straight if you want them to. Personally, we can't see hearing music at your special event that you can hear on the radio or internet any day of the week.
But a DJ will be less expensive than a live band and can probably play the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner hour AND reception with only a couple of breaks.
But Dj's don't receive applause and they rarely if ever get encores. We do. All the time.
Originally from New York City and a 25 year resident of Taos New Mexico, Al is an established keyboard player and experienced actor (Fame, Hair, and several Off Broadway flops). He studied music and drama at New York’s High School of Performing Arts, and continued to refine his talents at the State University of New York for several years afterward. He has also been involved in the production of “The Taos Solar Music Festival”, does regular voiceover work, and is really funny.
Hailing from "Hot"lanta GA, Lester brought his guitar and unique singing ability to New Mexico in the fall of 2000. His previous credits include several indie film scores as well as longstanding local success with his original band "Fancy ". He is without a doubt, the “best bass player in the world”, with a finely tuned style stolen from many musical influences including the Beatles, Leonard Cohen, Radiohead and David Bowie. His falsetto is ridiculous, and his overall vocal talent and musical ingenuity has proven to be an indispensable asset to Vanilla Pop. He also came up with the name of the band over 15 years ago. (Thanks Les!)
...are unconventional and have always danced your own dance. The thought of being another cookie cut cookie in a batch of cookie cutter cookies makes your head spin. You have a free spirit and are not afraid to blaze your own trail. You laugh out loud and have always been comfortable being a bit "different".
...is making you nervous.
We understand that.
The last thing you should have to worry about is the music. Worry about the napkins and the relatives, and let us take care of the rockin' part of the evening. We've been doing this for over 15 years and know that the final 3 hours of the night is when you should be able to
relax and have a good time.
We'll make sure you do.
